We have another East District champion in our club - CHRIS won the 200m IM event in the 10/11 boys category to take the gold medal. He had a close battle with Jamie Waller of Hearts for the first half of the race but a superb back to breast turn set him up for a strong breaststroke leg which put him into an unassailable lead.
  RAQUEL also swam in the 200m IM and qualified for the final with the fastest time. She then improved her time in the final but lost out to one swimmer, finishing second with another PB. Our third finalist of the weekend was ROBYN, who had an excellent swim in the heats of the 100m back to qualify in 4th place. She just missed out on a place in the finals weekend but had the consolation of recording a SNAG consideration time. Katie, Amy and Gillian also swam on Sunday and all three set new PBs.
We had a superb total of 21 swimmers who qualified for the schools Finals and on the day 15 of them finished in the top ten in their events. The introduction of heats and finals for the 12 and under events gave some of our younger swimmers 2 swims in their event and they made the most of it.
 Across the day we won 2 silvers (Chris for 50m back and Gavin for 200m fly) and three bronzes (Raquel in both of her events, the 100m fly and 200m IM and Niall in the 100m fly). The were also some excellent PBs recorded, led by Rory G who took nearly 4 secs of his 50m fly time (twice) and Will who sliced over 5 secs off his 200m IM best. Rory M also set two good PBs, Sophie and Keri qualified for their final with excellent PBs and Louise, Cameron and Clare H all set new best times.
The third meet in this series of 4 was another exciting evening of races for our young team. Points were scored in every event though the time-bands are tight and its hard to guess how the score is developing through the evening. This time our highest point scorers were Liall with 26, Joanne with 23, Bethany and Ben with 22 and Isobel with 19. Everyone swam in the relays with our medlay teams taking almost maximum points but our freestyle teams not scoring at all - as I said, those time-bands are tough.
  With one meet to go, there are three teams very close together with Portobello in 2nd place. The points are as follows;
 Haddington - 585.5
  Portobello  - 561.5
 Tranent     - 554
 Musselburgh - 459

The last round is scheduled for Mar 27 so lets keep working hard in training and be ready for the league decider. Thanks again to Lindsay and Judith for managing the team and to Jack and John Mac for helping with judging.
