| Bill Laidlaw - is a committed coach with many years of experience. He enjoys working with the senior members of the Swimming Club and the Water Polo guys. He has in the past coached many swimmers to East District level, was Scottish Water Polo Coach to the under 21 team and takes a keen interest in all his swimmers times. | ![]() |

Norman Grierson - is a coach with many years’ experience not only of coaching, but of being team manager to Scotland Teams of the recent past. He has also been Scotland’s technical official representative at four Commonwealth Games, and he is a past president of the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association. He remains our “Whizz kid” when it comes to technical issues! |
| Jack Snowdon MBE - has committed a lifetime to swimming at every level from young “learn -to –swim” swimmers, through to elite athletes. He shows an interest in all areas of competitive swimming, as well as water polo, synchronised swimming and diving. In addition he actively supports Disabled Swimming Galas. He is also Portobello’s Swimming Convenor. He also referees, is a past President of the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association, is highly respected within Scottish Swimming and was awarded his MBE for Services to Amateur Swimming in Scotland in 2001. | ![]() |

John Roden - is an interested parent who has become a coach by attending seminars, Flying Start education days and learning from other coaches. He came from Bill Sweetenham’s country “Down Under” and brought with him some of their ideas. We are still working on his lingo of “Galas or Meets” instead of Aussie’s “Festivals”. He has an absolutely fantastic rapport with the swimmers. He is also an avid Hibs fan!! |
| Paula Jamieson - is the newest member to Portobello’s Coaching Team. She recently passed her ASA Assistant Teacher Certificate and brings with her lots of teaching points. She is a qualified occupational therapist and this can be very useful when on Poolside. She also assists with our dry land work. | ![]() |

Cath Fleming - is an enthusiastic coach. In 2001 the East District nominated her for the Volunteer Investment Award which was presented by the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association. She is actively involved not only in Portobello Swimming Club, but as a Coach and Judge in Synchronised Swimming. She also assists and teaches/coaches those who have Special Needs. She has three children who all compete at a high level in swimming. Cath is a PE teacher now working in Learning Support. |

Grievance Procedures (as required by SASA).
If you have
a grievance or complaint (related to the Club), you should follow the steps
below:
1. Contact one of the club officials or a committee member. The problem may
be solved at this stage.
2. Write to the club secretary requesting that your grievance be heard in
accordance with your club disciplinary procedure.
If you are not
satisfied after these steps:
3. Make an official complaint to the SASA in writing with details of your
problem and enclose the appropriate fee, in accordance with Company Rule R16.0.
Your commplaint will then be professionally handled and you will be advised
what you should do.
